AKVIS Decorator Version 1.2

AKVIS Decorator V.1.2 is a plug-in that allows the user to paint a new texture and color to an object while preserving its volume. This means that your pretty model may be able to wear a skirt of bricks and still appear genuine, but that’s taking it to the extreme.

A more believable application might be a car with the skin of a snake, or a chair with a different texture. Akvis Decorator follows the underlying features of the object, the texture that already exists, and makes the new color or ... Read entire article

32-bit/HDR improvements in Photoshop CS3

December 30th, 2006

Photoshop CS2 introduced the application's first support for 32-bit high dynamic range (HDR) imaging.  The support was pretty limited, consisting of the Merge to HDR command (for combining bracketed shots into a single image) and some basic imaging functions (cropping, cloning, conversing from 32 to 8 or 16 bits per channel).  Even so, about a year ago examples started popping up of HDR experiments (not solely connected to Photoshop, of course, but helped along by CS2).  In the time since then more good resources on the subject have emerged.

The Photoshop CS3 beta includes some improvements ... Read entire article

This is one of the first shots that I have had a chance to fully process in Photoshop CS3. I gotta say that I am loving the changes!

Here is a slice from a set of bracketed photos that I took Monday morning. The intent was to capture the rain drops and perform an HDR merge and tone mapping.

I merged the three pictures three different times; in CS2 using merge to HDR, in CS3 Beta using merge to HDR and in Photomatix.

Next, I loaded the default Radiance file each merge created into Photomatix and applied ... Read entire article

Will Creative Suite 3 Break Adobe's Post-Product-Release Blues?

December 28th, 2006

William Trent submits: We recently took profits on our Adobe (ADBE) position because we have noticed the stock tends to trade down following the release of a major new upgrade on the theory that there will be no more good news for a while.

Of course, this is not the typical upgrade and things could be different this time. For one thing, the switch to Intel-based Mac support should be a significant demand driver for the company’s creative professional ... Read entire article
