Zoomify Fast Web Access to High-Res Pics

March 12th, 2007

A new component to Photoshop CS3 is the ability to export images to Zoomify, which creates a Flash-based interactive viewer for high-resolution images, allowing for a fast download from the Internet.

Exporting to Zoomify from Photoshop CS3

The technique is amazingly simple. As an example, I will export the JPG photo that I tweaked in Camera Raw last week. The steps are the following:

File > Export > Zoomify

Zoomify Settings

Set the Output Location to where you want to save the files (a file and folder structure will be created in this location), make any settings you wish to configure, and then click OK.

These files may now be uploaded to a Web server, from which people may zoom in on and pan throughout your image, without a loss of quality.

See the Zoomify results HERE.
