Adobe CS3 Updater and Admin Rights

October 31st, 2007

Adobe’s updater in CS3 hasn’t worked for me worth a crap for a while. I found several reports online that it doesn’t play well with File Vault, at least in CS2. So, under that theory, I created an admin account with a normal home directory and launched it. The result:

The foreground window is Adobe Updater bitching about account rights. The background window is my System Preferences showing that the current account is indeed an admin account.

Joy.

Maybe Adobe Updater isn’t compatible with Leopard? Or maybe what Adobe Updater is really ...

Adobe is releasing an update to Lightroom 1.2 in mid-November to make it fully compatible with Leopard, Mac OS X 10.5.

Leopard: What’s working and what’s not on my MacPro

October 29th, 2007

Upon confirming that my vital applications (Web browsers, Mail, Adobe CS3 and Transmit) work perfectly fine under Apple’s latest version of OSX (Leopard), I quickly moved on to see what other applications on my MacPro were working, working with problems or flat-out busted. My findings were pleasantly surprising.

What’s Working:

  • 1Password - required an update, but works perfectly now
  • Comic Life - Works fine, and still just as much fun as it always was
  • Domainer - Working fine
  • ecto - The best app for managing your blog posts is working perfectly. At least, the ...

Leopard ready for designers and photographers

October 29th, 2007

Having spent my weekend with Leopard and Adobe CS3, I can put your mind at ease by saying that if you were waiting to upgrade, you don’t have to.Leopard and Adobe’s Creative Suite applications appear to work perfectly together. In fact, they work even better than they did with Tiger. Speed is the only thing I noticed after the upgrade. A lot more of it. Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, Distiller and Dreamweaver all launched much faster than they did under Tiger.

As for Creative Suite 2 users, with the exception of a ...
