Phantasm CS rocks Adobe Illustrator

April 24th, 2008

When we talk about plugins, you generally assume we're talking about Photoshop add-ons. Most people don't even realize that you can add features to Adobe Illustrator using plugins, let alone name a good one. I recently found a real gem and reviewed it at The Graphic Mac, and thought it would fit in nicely here at CreativeBits as well.

Phantasm CS Studio 1.0 by Astute Graphics is not only one of those good ones, but it's a whole suite of good ones. Where most plugins have the goal of creating artwork for you, Phantasm CS is more ...

Adobe finally chimes-in on Leopard Compatability

October 28th, 2007

Macworld repots that Adobe gives the "all-clear" signal for users of CS3 products, except for Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional.

However, there WILL be updates required for their professional video applications, including Adobe Premiere Pro CS3, After Effects CS3 Professional, Encore CS3 and Soundbooth CS3.

Adobe said it expects to publish free Leopard compatibility updates for the video applications in December 2007 and for Acrobat 8 Professional and Adobe Reader 8 in January 2008.

Adjust on the fly (Not just for Photoshop)

September 27th, 2007

*UPDATE* - I hear you guys! I wish Adobe included this feature in every program they make, but unfortunately, they don't; however, they DO include it in After Effects, Lightroom, Premiere Pro and Soundbooth (all CS3 versions). So, if you use any of these programs, make sure you take advantage of this great feature.

Have you ever wanted to make adjustments on the fly? There are several ways to resize things such as indents for paragraphs, but here's one you may not be aware of. If you place your cursor right ...

Indesign CS3 width*height

September 15th, 2007

I was using Width and Height (picture) to change the size of image or some object, but in ID CS2, in new version CS3, if I do the same thing, he only put a viewable size smaller,, but picture size stays the same...

I'm using now 'Free transform tool' to put some image smaller or bigger, but that procedure isn't very precise..

so,, where did they put old fashion "transform" to change the size of image/object (picture).

thanx

Appealing to you in lieu of Adobe Support

September 11th, 2007

I guess I'm being punished for playing with the torrent download of CS3 a while ago, and also for forgetting that OS X doesn't want us dragging things to the Trash to uninstall them.

That's just what I did, and now my purchased CS3 upgrade won't work. It's finding hints of that torrent version. The Uninstall utility can't help because something it needs is missing (trashed). It's telling me I have to reinstall the original software, which it took me like 3 days to download with Azureus. And no, I didn't back it up.

Short of flinging myself ...

Illustrator CS3 New Document Profiles

September 4th, 2007

Are you tired of setting up your Illustrator enviroment again and again to your liking? In previous versions it was a matter of editing a "Default_CMYK" or "Default_RGB" file in the Illustrator applications folder. In CS3 it's much more fun with New Document Profiles:

Set everything the way you like: document size, units, preferences, rulers on or off, swatches in list view, brush sets, color mode, raster effects settings etc.

Then save a .ai document to
Username/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Illustrator CS3/New Document Profiles/
Name it "My Illustrator" or give it any name you like. From now on this ...

Photoshop - Save for web problem!!

July 7th, 2007

Hey people!

I have an odd problem in Photoshop CS3 (infact I've had it in the earlier versions aswell).

When I create something in RGB/GRAYSCALE-mode and I want to use the "Save for web"-function everything gets a bit brighter. I can't seem to match the original colors.

I know it's an issue about color-settings but I've tried almost everything in CS3. It worked for me in the earlier versions but I can't recall how I changed it!

Are there any PS3-experts out there who could help??

I've included my Color Settings.

Thanks a bunch!
